Jigsaw Puzzle Virginia & Truckee Railroad Carson City is the capital of Nevada and is a fun Family Destination. It is in the center of one of the most scenic and historic places in the country. Its story is filled with historical characters from Kit Carson and John Freemont to Mark Twain and Ansel Adams. Kids will love the Children’s Museum of Northern Nevada, and all ages will enjoy the Nevada State Railroad Museum and the Mills Park Railroad. For a place with so much history there must be tales of ghosts and spirits, so for those with a spooky spirit of adventure there is the annual Carson City Ghost Walk and throughout the year you can visit the many haunted places in town. Even the Governor’s Mansion has many stories of ghosts and spirits in the governor’s residence. During the summer months, the historic Virginia and Truckee Railroad will take visitors from Carson City to Reno, Virginia City, and Minden, with sights to include the scenic vistas of the Sierra Nevada and Carson River and, occasionally, even Nevada’s wild mustangs. When in Virginia City don’t miss the camel and ostrich races and even a chicken roundup.
Virginia & Truckee Railroad
A must-see for anyone visiting this area, and well within an hour’s drive from Carson City is Lake Tahoe, known as the jewel of the Sierras.
